Daniel Ferguson
President and Lead Flare Consultant/Trainer
Daniel Ferguson is the founder of Smart Output. He has 20 years of experience working in the fields of technical communication and project management. He’s worked in large multinational corporations as well as bootstrapped startups. He’s been using MadCap Flare every day since 2012.
Daniel is a regular presenter on MadCap software’s webinar series as well as a presenter at MadCap’s annual MadWorld conference. He also presents at local STC chapter meetings and Flare User Group meetings.
Daniel is a certified MadCap Advanced Developer and Project Management Professional®. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication from Utah State University and a master’s degree in Technology Commercialization from the University of Texas.
Kathryn Grant
Senior Technical Writer and Instructional Designer
Kathryn Grant is an experienced technical writer and instructional designer. In both writing and teaching, she focuses on making complicated concepts and procedures clear and easy to understand.
Kathryn is a user advocate, with experience in user research and process improvement. She also has a strong technical background, having worked in technical support and web design and development. She is skilled in single sourcing (content reuse), which enables clients to reduce costs, improve consistency, and simplify maintenance.
Kathryn received her bachelor’s degree in Interpersonal Communications with a minor in English from Brigham Young University. At the same school, she obtained a master’s degree in Instructional Design with a minor in Educational Leadership.
